Barclays Women’s Championship March Player, Goal and Manager of the Month winners announced

The winners of the Barclays Women’s Championship awards for March have now been confirmed.

Firstly, Durham’s Aimee Claypole has been voted as Player of the Month by a combination of a panel and public vote following a scintillating month for the North East outfit.

Having only signed for the club in January, she took her goal tally from zero to five last month with a brace scored in the space of two minutes against local neighbours Newcastle United, followed by a first career hat-trick in a 6-0 win over Portsmouth.

Beth Lumsden (Newcastle United), Kosovare Asllani (London City Lionesses) and Gracie Pearse (Charlton Athletic) were also in contention, but Claypole took the victory in this category.

Elsewhere, Sunderland’s Natasha Fenton secured the Goal of the Month accolade, with her strike against Charlton Athletic topping the voting charts.

Player of the Month contenders Asllani and Lumsden, Malaika Meena (Bristol City), Jodie Hutton (Charlton Athletic), Ava Rowbotham (Portsmouth) and Tyler Toland (Blackburn Rovers) were in the running, but Fenton’s free-kick was chosen by the public.

Finally, the League Managers’ Association have announced that London City Lionesses’ Head Coach Jocelyn Prêcheur has been voted Barclays Women’s Championship Manager of the Month for March by a panel of Faye White, Mo Marley MBE, Brent Hills, Jen O’Neill, Alan Curbishley, and Mollie Kmita.

The London outfit picked up ten points from a possible 12 across their four league fixtures in March to lift themselves to the summit of the table, two points ahead of Birmingham City in second.
