Home to the top two pro leagues in England
The Barclays Women’s Super League (WSL) and Barclays Women’s Championship (WC) are the top two professional women’s football leagues in England, with the Barclays WSL currently boasting more FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 players than any other league in the world. The Barclays WSL is made up of 12 clubs and Barclays WC is made up of 11, and the teams all play each other twice each season.
The Barclays WSL 2024-25 season runs from September to May, and at the end of each season, the top three teams from the Barclays WSL qualify for the UEFA Women’s Champions League, with the team finishing bottom relegated to the Barclays WC.
The Barclays WC begins in September and finishes in May with the team finishing the season on top promoted to the Barclays WSL. The team who find themselves at the bottom are relegated to the third pyramid in English football.

The Women’s League Cup
The Women’s League Cup is the cup competition for our top two professional leagues. Featuring all 23 Barclays WSL and Barclays WC clubs, the competition kicks off with group stages split into north and south regions, before the knockout rounds begin with the quarter-finals onwards.
The 2023-24 Final was a record-breaking fixture, as over 21,000 fans watched eventual winners Arsenal take on Chelsea at Molineux Stadium, Wolverhampton.
