Unstoppable Chelsea cruise past Liverpool to keep perfect WSL start intact

Chelsea continued their perfect start to the season with a decisive 3-0 victory over Liverpool at the Totally Wicked Stadium, extending their winning streak to six games this season.

The game started with early chances for both sides, but Liverpool’s promising attack was soon countered by Chelsea’s patience and control, culminating in a breakthrough just before halftime.

The deadlock was broken in the 37th minute, after Liverpool keeper Rachel Laws spilled a Guro Reiten effort into the path of Mayra Ramirez who tucked her effort away.

Reiten doubled the lead four minutes later following a misstep from Laws who passed the ball directly into the Norwegian’s path.

Liverpool showed good energy after the break, but struggled to break the visitors down, and substitute Aggie Beever-Jones sealed the three points for Chelsea with a close-range finish in the 90th minute.

Khadija Shaw on song as Man City’s title charge continues

Barclays Women’s Super League top goalscorer Khadija Shaw netted a hat-trick to power Manchester City to a commanding 4-0 victory over Tottenham, cementing their position at the top of the table.

Shaw struck her opener within 24 seconds, dispossessing Clare Hunt and slipping the ball past Spurs goalkeeper Becky Spencer for a dream started at Etihad Stadium.

She added a second before half time, heading in a cross from Lauren Hemp and proving a constant threat to Tottenham’s defence. Jill Roord added a third just after the hour and Shaw completed her hat-trick a minute later with another finish from Hemp’s delivery.

Despite hitting the woodwork and a disallowed goal, City dominated as Spurs managed only one close chance, with Matilda Vinberg nearly connecting with Bethany England’s cross.

Five-star Arsenal dismantle Brighton as Slegers unbeaten run rolls on

Arsenal’s return to form continued under interim manager Renee Slegers as they put five past Brighton & Hove Albion in a commanding display at the Emirates.

Beth Mead opened the scoring early with a sharp curling strike, and Caitlin Foord followed up with a scrappy second from close range.

But it was Frida Maanum who stole the show with a stunning long-range goal just before half-time to put the Gunners fully in charge at the break.

Brighton’s best efforts came from Kiko Seike, who hit the bar and forced a great save, but Arsenal’s Lina Hurtig went on to add a fourth with a glancing header.

Alessia Russo capped off the Gunners’ five-star performance with a calm penalty after Stina Blackstenius was fouled in the box.

Palace and Everton share the spoils in tightly contested draw.

Crystal Palace and Everton played out a tight 1-1 draw in an evenly matched clash at the VBS Community Stadium.

Palace struck first in under 30 seconds when My Cato set up Indiah-Paige Riley to slot home, catching Everton off guard early with their high press.

Despite Palace’s control and threat down the left through Ashleigh Weerden, they couldn’t extend their lead as Everton struggled to create clear chances.

Everton improved in the second half, and in the 71st minute Veatriki Sarri’s cross found Honoka Hayashi, who nodded in her first goal for the club since her summer move.

Both sides had chances thereafter, the best of which fell to Mille Gejl who drew an important save out of Everton keeper Courtney Brosnan, but neither side were able to make the breakthrough in an open end to the game, as Everton’s wait for their first win of the season goes on.

Asseyi’s late first-half strike gets West Ham off the mark

West Ham United secured their first win of the season with a 1-0 victory over Leicester at the Chigwell Construction Stadium.
In a slow start, both sides struggled to create clear chances, with West Ham looking the more threatening in attack.

Viviane Asseyi broke the deadlock deep into first-half stoppage time, rounding Janina Leitzig to slot home a well-threaded ball from Manuela Pavi.

West Ham continued to apply pressure in the second half, forcing Leitzig into several crucial saves as Leicester’s attack failed to make an impact.

Despite Leicester’s late push with set-piece opportunities, West Ham held firm to secure all three points.

Villa earn precious point at United

Aston Villa earned their third point of the season with a hard-fought 0-0 draw away at Manchester United.

Phallon Tullis-Joyce was the busier ‘keeper at Leigh Sports Village, with the American stopper producing an impressive double save in the first half to deny Kirsty Hanson and then Jordan Nobbs.

United struggled to get past Villa’s high press, but struggled to test Sabrina D’Angelo in the visitors’ goal, with Melvine Malard heading narrowly wide before the break.

Ella Toone came close after the break following a good cross from Geyse but D’Angelo was able to comfortably save.
