Jill Scott MBE and Carly Telford surprise young fans ahead of Subway Women’s League Cup Final

Two young supporters received a special surprise ahead of Saturday’s Subway Women’s League Cup Final, courtesy of a pair of Barclays Women’s Super League legends.

Chosen by their respective clubs, 11-year-old Millie – a huge fan of Chelsea Women and her namesake in the Blues’ captain – and 10-year-old Emmie-Jacq, a season ticket holder and regular attendee of away games with her mum Joanne, arrived at Pride Park on Saturday morning expecting to simply cheer on their teams in the showpiece final.

They were invited into the stadium’s Media Suite however and took their place at the top table for a photo opportunity – only to be interrupted by the iconic duo of Jill Scott MBE and Carly Telford.

Still in shock, Millie and Emmie-Jacq were asked if they would like to lead the teams out for the final later that day – with resounding yeses all round. Jill and Carly then took the girls pitchside for photos, and to sit in the dugouts where Sonia Bompastor and Nick Cushing would be taking their places just a matter of hours later.

Walking out with Millie Bright and Laia Aleixandri respectively ahead of kick-off meanwhile, it was certainly a day neither youngster will forget in a hurry.
