Manchester City goalkeeper Khiara Keating has officially secured the Golden Glove award for the 2023-24 Barclays Women’s Super League season.
The 19-year-old shot-stopper has scooped the accolade ahead of the final weekend of the campaign, having kept clean sheets in nine of her 21 games so far, conceding only 14 goals.
Her success also makes her the youngest ever recipient of the award, with her beating Chelsea’s Hannah Hampton (six clean sheets in ten games) and Manchester United’s Mary Earps (seven clean sheets in 21 outings) to the trophy.
Speaking about her success, Keating said: “This is a really proud moment for myself, but also for the team – keeping as many clean sheets as we have in a league as competitive as the Barclays WSL is something that takes a lot of hard work.
“It’s really special to be the youngest person to win this award, but I hope it shows all the little girls out there that no matter your age, it shouldn’t be a barrier in achieving success.
“You learn by being thrown into situations and maturing comes as part of that, and it’s been an incredible season.”
