Trafalgar Square turns blue following Chelsea’s sixth consecutive Barclays WSL title

In celebration of a record-breaking sixth consecutive Barclays Women’s Super League title, the Barclays Women’s Super League and Chelsea transformed one of London’s most iconic landmarks by turning Trafalgar Square blue.

On Monday evening (May 12), illuminations projected onto Nelson’s column were accompanied by Chelsea blue fountains, creating the perfect backdrop to commemorate the champions’ unbeaten season.

The activation took place following Chelsea’s win against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Saturday 10 May, which ensured they went invincible throughout manager Sonia Bompastor’s first league season at the club.

Chelsea’s top goal-scorer Aggie Beever-Jones was in attendance to recognise another remarkable chapter in Chelsea’s illustrious history.

Speaking at Trafalgar Square, Beever-Jones said: “I’m from London myself and I’ve visited Trafalgar Square so many times with my family and friends.

“Seeing this projection feels like the icing on the cake after being so proud of winning the league.”
