Becky Langley was confirmed as Newcastle women’s manager for the 2019-2020 season, replacing former Newcastle United player and first team manager Victoria Greenwell after a three-year tenure.
Langley has spent the last five years at the helm after first assuming a dual role in 2019, when she took over as the Magpies’ head coach while also acting as Head of Women’s Football at Northumbria University.
She lifted her first trophy as manager of the club in 2021 after guiding her side to Bluefin Sport Insurance Women’s Cup success with a 5-1 victory over Wallsend BC Women in the final.
This would set the benchmark for a record-breaking 2022 season which saw the Magpies score 73 goals across 20 matches.
Langley steered the side to promotion to the third tier at the end of the 2022/23 season with a 4-0 victory over Alnwick Town, after which Newcastle also became the first third tier side to turn fully professional.
The North East native led the Magpies to further success last season, as the side were promoted to the Barclays Women’s Championship as champions of the FA Women’s National League.
